Migrant Farm-Workers Score Victory Against Taco Bell
By Andrew Stelzer and Shannon Young

In a radio documentary for Free Speech Radio News, Narco News School of Authentic Journalism 2004 professors Andrew Stelzer and Shannon Young look at the long struggle for better pay and working conditions for the farm workers who pick the tomatoes used at Taco Bell and other fast-food restaurants. These workers, mostly from Mexico, Guatemala, and Haiti (many of the Mexicans hailing from the Zapatista lands of Chiapas) have endured slave-like conditions on Florida farms. In March 2005 they won several concessions from Taco Bell’s parent company, after a long boycott and campaign that involved forming links with groups across the country working for global justice.
